This elegant and colourful gaiwan was hand-made and hand-painted in a Jingdezhen (aka pottery capital of China) by local artists. The gaiwan was made out of kaolin porcelain clay and fired at a temperature of 1320 degrees.

Native to China, the ginkgo tree has served as a symbol of hope and peace. Also, the ginkgo’s leaves often appear to have two lobes that are split halfway down the middle. This “duality” of the tree is expressed in many works of art and literature. The beauty of ginkgo leaves inspired many artists, including Goethe, who wrote a poem about the ginkgo using the leaf to symbolise his love affair.

The capacity of the gaiwan: 130 cc
Dimensions of the gaiwan: Diameter, 9.5 cm; Height 10 cm
